Softball Recap: Newburyport Find Success

Newburyport won the last time they faced Ipswich and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Clippers came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 13-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clippers.

Lilah Thompson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Isla DeVivo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

Newburyport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ipswich only posted a batting average of .290.

Newburyport now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ipswich, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newburyport will venture away from home to square off against Danvers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ipswich, they will head out to take on Winthrop at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
