Softball Game Preview: Harlingen Cardinals vs. Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees

The Harlingen Cardinals will challenge the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Harlingen comes in on six and Tuloso-Midway on three.

Tuloso-Midway's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Harlingen hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Harlingen's pitcher stepped up to hand Ray a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Cardinals have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jozalin Bravo made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Amanda Mares was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amaris Gomez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Harlingen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tuloso-Midway earned a 7-2 victory over Manvel last Thursday.

Harlingen's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Tuloso-Midway, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1.
