There's no place like home for Chester, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Redding Christian Lions a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Volcanoes have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brianna Dean was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hailey Delong was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Sophia Salazar also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
