Liberty has gone 7-1 against Mendota recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Liberty Hawks will take on the Mendota Aztecs at 7:30 p.m.

Liberty can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Friday. They lost to Strathmore on the road by a 28-14 margin.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Shane Williams, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 80 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Adrian Vasquez, who threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Mendota strolled past Golden Valley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 27-12.

Hawk Garcia went supernova for Mendota, rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 44 receiving yards. Anthony Trinidad got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mendota was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Valley only rushed for 98.

Mendota wouldn't let Golden Valley keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Julian Silva was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.

Liberty beat Mendota 24-17 in their previous meeting back in August of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
