Basketball Recap: Elbert Beats Arickaree for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Elbert entered their tilt with Arickaree on Saturday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 39-32 victory over the Arickaree Bison.

Leading Elbert to victory were Caleb Cornell and Ethan Tesman. Cornell dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Tesman posted 18 points along with six boards and three blocks. Tesman's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah LaChausse, who had two points.

Elbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Arickaree lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jorge Ramos, who earned seven points in addition to nine boards and three steals. Jake King was another key player, putting up six points and six steals.

Elbert's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points over those games. As for Arickaree, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Elbert didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-24 victory against Briggsdale on the 10th. As for Arickaree, they will challenge Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arickaree is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.
