Basketball Recap: Gering Comes Up Short

Gering was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 46-34 to the Scottsbluff Bearcats. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Gering saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jacey Cochran almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Cochran. Aubrey Anderson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Gering smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Gering's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Scottsbluff, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Gering has already played their next game (against Wheatland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Scottsbluff will face off against Ogallala at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
