Baseball Recap: Douglas County West Comes Up Short

Douglas County West extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 4-10. They came up short against the Gross Catholic Cougars, falling 10-0. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Douglas County West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Landauer, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Gross Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 13-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season.

On Gross Catholic's side, Bradyn Stanek looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Gross Catholic let Mikey Bejar and Logan Legner run wild. Bejar got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Legner went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Bejar a new career-high. Will Kroll was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Douglas County West is set to square off against their familiar foe Raymond Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gross Catholic will challenge rival Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
