Basketball Recap: Shorecrest Prep Comes Up Short

Shorecrest Prep has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 52-42 to the Tampa Prep Terrapins on Friday. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Shorecrest Prep still got an impressive performance from Nickolas Bearden, who posted 22 points. Bearden's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ahmad Crumity was another key player, putting up seven points.

J'London Bivens was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds for Tampa Prep. That's the most boards Bivens has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jackson LaMarre, who put up 13 points and five rebounds.

Shorecrest Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Tampa Prep, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Shorecrest Prep will take on Bradenton Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Tampa Prep, they will challenge Gaither at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Tampa Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season.
