Football Recap: Rowan County Takes a Loss

Rowan County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of the East Carter Raiders. The Vikings lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 30-19 score last time.

Landon Yoak was a one-man wrecking crew For East Carter. as he rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Yoak a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Burton, who threw for 78 yards and a pair of TDs.

Rowan County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for East Carter, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Rowan County has already played their next matchup, a 13-6 win against Bath County on the 6th. As for East Carter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 34-20 victory against Boyd County on the 5th.
