Baseball Recap: Legacy Drops Season-High Score on Ketchikan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Legacy). They never let the Ketchikan Kings get on the board and left with a 27-0 win on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lightning with their most commanding win of the season.

Ethan Sanchez made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Guilino Panelli was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Chase Hoelting was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Legacy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.

The victory got Legacy back to even at 4-4. As for Ketchikan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Legacy will head out on the road to challenge Mead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Lightning surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ketchikan, they will host Homer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
