Volleyball Game Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Wasatch Wasps

After both having extra time off, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles and the Wasatch Wasps will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Maple Mountain's tournament run continued when they took on Windward on Saturday. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The match marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Wasatch came tearing into last Thursday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cowboys.

Wasatch never let Grantsville on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-22.

Wasatch's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. As for Maple Mountain, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 17-1.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Maple Mountain hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 7 blocks per game. It's a different story for Wasatch, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 blocks. Given Maple Mountain's sizable advantage in that area, the Wasps will need to find a way to close that gap.
