Floyd Central took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Lawrence County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 7-5. For the Jaguars, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Floyd Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Jenkins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Jace Martin was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Floyd Central has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Lawrence County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-8.

Floyd Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
