Baseball Recap: Battle Creek's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

While Battle Creek put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Mt. Pleasant. The Grizzlies blew past the Tigers 9-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-5 last Monday.

Battle Creek got a great performance from Ryan Weber as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Weber also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Grizzlies are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Swoish, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Battle Creek is 5-1 when Swoish posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Colten Barba was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Battle Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Battle Creek's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Mt. Pleasant, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Creek will head out to take on Richland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will venture away from home to square off against Culleoka at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
