Basketball Game Preview: Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats vs. Carolina International Comets

Sugar Creek Charter is 1-7 against Carolina International since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats will face off against the Carolina International Comets at 7:00 p.m.

Sugar Creek Charter is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Queen's Grant on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sugar Creek Charter had to suffer through a 76-32 loss at the hands of Queen's Grant. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.

Meanwhile, Carolina International had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They snuck past the Patriots with a 74-69 win. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Patriots are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sugar Creek Charter better keep an eye on KJ Shouse Jr.. He was instrumental in Carolina International's win, going 13 of 16 en route to 29 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those 29 points gave Shouse Jr. a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josiah Bridges, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 14 points and seven boards.

Carolina International pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Sugar Creek Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Sugar Creek Charter came up short against Carolina International when the teams last played back in January, falling 73-62. Can Sugar Creek Charter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
