Baseball Game Preview: Shiner Comanches vs. Burton Panthers

The Shiner Comanches will challenge the Burton Panthers on Saturday. Shiner will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Shiner is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Bartlett. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Comanches have posted since April 15th.

Landyn Pohler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Pohler wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bode Werner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Burton was able to grind out a solid victory over Flatonia on Saturday, taking the game 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Shiner pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Burton, their win bumped their record up to 21-10.
