Recap: Triton Hawks vs. Smithfield-Selma Spartans
The Triton Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Smithfield-Selma for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-11 victory on the road. The win was some much needed relief for Triton as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Triton was led to victory by Ja'Niah Smith and Nashara McNeil-Watlington. Smith scored 11 points along with five steals, while McNeil-Watlington scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of A'shari Watlington, who scored 11 points.
Triton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Smithfield-Selma, their loss was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Triton is on the road again on Friday and play against Southern Lee at 4:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Smithfield-Selma will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
