Softball Game Preview: Pensacola Tigers vs. Choctawhatchee Indians

Pensacola is 0-10 against Choctawhatchee since February of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Pensacola Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Choctawhatchee Indians at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pensacola is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 18-9 to Booker T. Washington. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Sydney Jauncey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Carniya Russell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Pensacola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Choctawhatchee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Fort Walton Beach, falling 18-1.

Choctawhatchee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabbi Barnowsky, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Choctawhatchee's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pensacola, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Choctawhatchee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pensacola has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. It's a different story for Choctawhatchee, though, as they've only averaged .306. Will they be able to contain Pensacola's hitters?
