Baseball Recap: Holly Springs Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Holly Springs's offense. They fell just short of the Granada Matadors by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Golden Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anthony Zezza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Holly Springs saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam McNierney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Holly Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Granada, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Holly Springs has already played their next match, a 15-3 loss against Casteel on the 11th. As for Granada, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-0 win against Edwardsville on the 11th.
