Recap: South Florence Bruins vs. North Myrtle Beach Chiefs

After flying high against the Cheraw Braves last Monday, the South Florence Bruins came back down to earth. South Florence lost to North Myrtle Beach at home by a decisive 49-34 margin on Wednesday. South Florence was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Myrtle Beach apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

South Florence lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amari Gamble, who scored ten points along with two steals. Gamble's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Jada Montgomery, who scored eight points along with two blocks.

Leading North Myrtle Beach to victory were Faith Farmer and Madison Vereen. Farmer scored 25 points, while Vereen dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Farmer has scored at least a third of North Myrtle Beach's points.

South Florence's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for North Myrtle Beach, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Florence will face off against West Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Myrtle Beach, they will head out on the road to challenge Myrtle Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Myrtle Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 130th, while North Myrtle Beach is ranked 46th).
