Football Game Preview: Santo Wildcats vs. Muenster Hornets

The Santo Wildcats will face off against the Muenster Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Santo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 54-14 victory over Chico. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Muenster, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past Era 54-16 on Friday. Given Muenster's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Era is ranked 828th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santo better keep an eye on Casen Carney. He was instrumental in Muenster's win, throwing for 200 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 91 yards and one TD. What's more, Carney racked up 166.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dustyn Croft, who gained 106 total yards and three touchdowns.

Muenster was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Santo's record now sits at 6-1. As for Muenster, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-2.

Santo was dealt a bruising 43-7 defeat at the hands of Muenster in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carney, who rushed for 85 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 118 yards on seven of 12 attempts.
