Softball Game Preview: Cheshire Academy Cats vs. Kingswood Oxford Wyverns

The Cheshire Academy Cats will head out to square off against the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Cheshire Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on King with a sharp 10-0 win. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cats yet this season.

Meanwhile, Kingswood Oxford got the win against Westminster School on Tuesday by a conclusive 6-0. Considering the Wyverns have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexis Nisyrios ?27 was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Nisyrios ?27 wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aleis Gonzalez ?27, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Racheal Segal ?28 also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cheshire Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Kingswood Oxford, their record is now 5-2.

Cheshire Academy couldn't quite get it done against Kingswood Oxford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Cats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
