Basketball Recap: Pioneer Comes Up Short

Pioneer had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it seven. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clinton Central Bulldogs. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 51-38 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Clinton Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 35 points in those games.

Carly Davison produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, she posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Jacobs, who scored three points and five steals.

Pioneer has already played their next matchup, a 45-26 defeat against Culver Community on the 22nd. As for Clinton Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-30 loss against Carroll on the 21st.
