Mesa Ridge waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 19 straight wins... but they left with 20. They walked away with a 64-57 victory over the Evergreen Cougars. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Cougars are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mesa Ridge was led to victory by Bryce Riehl and Isaiah Lucas. Riehl posted 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Lucas went 6-for-9 to rack up 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Lucas continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was J'Marius Jones, who scored 12 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Mesa Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Drew Yager and Lukas Mccanna certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Yager went 8-for-15 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points, while Mccanna went 7-for-8 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The game was Mccanna's third in a row with at least 15 points. Eli Beeson was another key player, putting up seven points and seven assists.

Mesa Ridge pushed their record up to 20-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for Evergreen, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Looking ahead, Mesa Ridge will challenge Widefield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesa Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. As for Evergreen, they will square off against Conifer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Evergreen has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matches.
