Basketball Recap: Aledo Extends Winning Streak to Six

Aledo had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They took down the Chisholm Trail Rangers 47-33. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-53 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Chisholm Trail saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jesse Mutombo dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Mutombo has become a key player for Chisholm Trail: the team is 16-6 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. Omari Johnson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Aledo pushed their record up to 23-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Chisholm Trail, they moved to 17-8 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Aledo and Chisholm Trail will both be playing Fossil Ridge the next time they take the court. Aledo will host Fossil Ridge at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Chisholm Trail will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
