Desert Christian hasn't had much luck against Benson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. Desert Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Desert Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 31-5 margin over San Miguel on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Vipers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Desert Christian got a massive performance out of Alexa Yarger, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and five runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs Yarger has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cali Smith, who fired off seven RBI, four runs, and two triples while going 5-for-5.
Yarger wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Desert Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for the Eagles: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.2.
Meanwhile, Benson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 17-7 to Willcox.
Karris Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Desert Christian's record is now 3-9. As for Benson, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Benson struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert Christian came up short against Benson when the teams last played back in March, falling 12-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
