Basketball Recap: Mt. Clemens Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lincoln-King Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Clemens). They escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Lincoln-King Academy Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. The Battling Bathers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Clemens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Williams is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Alyssa Pelione was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six steals and five boards.

Mt. Clemens was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Mt. Clemens moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Lincoln-King Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Mt. Clemens and Lincoln-King Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Mt. Clemens (ranked 520th) will meet Arts & Tech (ranked 255th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Lincoln-King Academy will challenge Summit Academy North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 338 places (511 vs. 173).
