Soccer Game Preview: Chavez vs. Santee

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Chavez face off against the Santee at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chavez comes in on four and Santee on five.

Chavez is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Orthopaedic 2-1. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 231st in California, while the Vipers are ranked 520th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eduardo Sicaja was the driving force of Chavez's attack as he scored both of Chavez's goals, bringing his season total up to 35 goals.

Meanwhile, Santee hadn't done well against Diego Rivera recently (they were 1-6 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Santee beat Diego Rivera by a goal, winning 5-4.

Santee's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Chavez, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
