Baseball Game Preview: Desert Heights Prep Yote vs. Anthem Prep Eagles

The Desert Heights Prep Yote will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Anthem Prep Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Anthem Prep took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Desert Heights Prep, who comes in off a win.

Desert Heights Prep is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Maryvale Prep. Desert Heights Prep never let Maryvale Prep get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Thursday. The Yote have beaten the Matador the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Matador has come to flipping the script.

Jesse Aguon was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cayle Haskell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Anthem Prep fell victim to St. John Paul II Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

Desert Heights Prep came up short against Anthem Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can Desert Heights Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
