Softball Recap: Westville Blackhawks vs. Bremen Lions
Westville proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Bremen Lions 8-7. The victory was just business as usual for the Blackhawks, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Kierstin Vargas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Maddison Cole and Miranda Sparks did most of the damage at the plate: Cole went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Sparks scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Cole a new career-high. Olivia Mallon was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
