Baseball Game Preview: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Ashland Grizzlies

For the second straight game, North Eugene will face off against Ashland. The Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Grizzlies at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

North Eugene took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Ashland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Highlanders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Grizzlies 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted since May 14, 2024.

Duncan Roudabush was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over eight innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Eugene is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Roudabush was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Roudabush wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Broderick Poe, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. Aiden Hibler was another, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

North Eugene's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Ashland, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
