Baseball Game Preview: Lakeside Lancers vs. Valley View Eagles

The Lakeside Lancers will square off against the Valley View Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lakeside has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Valley View will arrive with three straight victories.

Lakeside came up short against Rancho Christian on Friday, falling 16-2.

Lakeside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kingston Fe'Ao, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Valley View ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hillcrest, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 27th.

Adam Ghiliotty looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Joey Ward was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Angel Melendez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Valley View's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Lakeside might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Valley View when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
