Recap: East Coweta Indians vs. Callaway Cavaliers

Even though the Callaway Cavaliers scored an imposing 64 points on Saturday, the East Coweta Indians still came out on top. East Coweta walked away with a 73-64 victory over Callaway. Given East Coweta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Callaway is ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bryce Bond had an outrageously good game as he went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Carby Martin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Callaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is D?Arcy Harris. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was DeShun Coleman, who scored 16 points along with two steals.

East Coweta now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Callaway, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

East Coweta has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Redan at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in East Coweta's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 contests. Callaway will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Towers at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Towers knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Callaway likes a good challenge.
