Softball Recap: Great Bend Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Great Bend waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Garden City Buffaloes 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Kya Behr, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. DeShawnna Bryant was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Great Bend pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Garden City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Bend will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newton at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Garden City, they will be playing at home against Dodge City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
