Basketball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind Dragons

The Menendez Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Florida School for the Deaf & Blind Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Menendez faced off against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on Saturday. Menendez took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Episcopal School of Jacksonville. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly five points.

Despite the loss, Menendez got top-tier performance from Sophia Scibelli, who posted 23 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinitee Moore, who had four points and five steals.

Florida School for the Deaf & Blind has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 47-33 to St. Johns Country Day. The contest marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Menendez's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Florida School for the Deaf & Blind, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

Menendez strolled past Florida School for the Deaf & Blind when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 48-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menendez since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
