Flag Football Recap: Ezira Hawkins Leads Monterey Trail's Defense on Tuesday

After flying high against Palo Alto on Saturday, Monterey Trail came back down to earth. The Mustangs took a 23-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sheldon Huskies on Tuesday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Although Monterey Trail took the loss, they still got scores from Mahallah Ali and Dalis Blackshire.

Even if they lost, Monterey Trail's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ezira Hawkins.

Sheldon found their leader in sophomore Saniah Wiley, who threw for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards and one TD.

Monterey Trail's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Sheldon, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Monterey Trail will challenge rival Cosumnes Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mustangs 14.8, the Wolfpack 14.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Sheldon is set to square off against their familiar foe Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
