Softball Recap: Shawnee Wins Going Away Against Van Wert

Shawnee lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Van Wert, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. The Indians blew past the Cougars 11-1 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Riley Rhodes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Taylor Lichty was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Michayla Browning, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
