Softball Game Preview: South Granville Vikings vs. North Lenoir Hawks

For the second straight game, South Granville will face off against North Lenoir. The Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Granville 2.4, North Lenoir 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

South Granville heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to North Lenoir. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

For North Lenoir's part, Maddie Rouse made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Rouse has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lakyn Whitley was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Alyssa Hatcher was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

North Lenoir has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for South Granville, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-4.
