Volleyball Recap: Banning Lewis Academy Takes a Loss

Banning Lewis Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Vanguard School Coursers. The Stallions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Coursers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Banning Lewis Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-12.

Persephone Phinney paced Banning Lewis Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Phinney got some help from Kaelyn Atencio and her 18 assists. Finally, Katie Chandler kept Banning Lewis Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Banning Lewis Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for The Vanguard School, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Banning Lewis Academy has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against La Junta on the 16th. As for The Vanguard School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Colorado Springs Christian on the 16th.
