Basketball Game Preview: Tyler Classical Academy Eagles vs. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm

Tyler Classical Academy hasn't had much luck against Athens Christian Preparatory Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tyler Classical Academy Eagles will head out to square off against the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm at 7:00 p.m. Tyler Classical Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Monday, Tyler Classical Academy beat Full Armor Christian Academy 51-38. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly 13 points.

Tyler Classical Academy can attribute much of their success to Jacob Gibbs, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Cooksy, who had seven points.

Tyler Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by St. Mary's 55-27.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Tyler Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Tyler Classical Academy came up short against Athens Christian Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 57-50. Can Tyler Classical Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
