Soccer Game Preview: Westmont vs. Palo Alto

The Westmont Warriors and the Palo Alto Vikings will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Westmont took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Saint Francis a 1-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Palo Alto put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Monta Vista. The Vikings' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matches.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Lucas Yuan, who's now up to three this season.

Palo Alto pushed their record up to 4-0-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three games. As for Westmont, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Westmont might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Palo Alto in their previous matchup back in December of 2015. Can Westmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
