Agawam is a perfect 5-0 against Taconic since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Brownies will host the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Agawam is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
While Agawam's victory against Frontier Regional wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Brownies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Red Hawks 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Brownies in their matchups with the Red Hawks: they've now won four in a row.
Avery Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Payton Malanson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Pajer, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Taconic came up short against Turners Falls on Tuesday and fell 10-5. Taconic has struggled against Turners Falls recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Taconic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toni Ahoussi, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Agawam's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Taconic, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Taconic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Agawam has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Taconic, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Agawam keep running through batters, or will the Thunder buck the trend?
Everything went Agawam's way against Taconic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Agawam made off with a 19-0 win. Will the Brownies repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
