Softball Recap: Palmetto Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Palmetto dropped their record down to 15-12 on Friday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the West-Oak Warriors, falling 8-1. The Mustangs were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the seven games prior), but the Warriors' pitchers proved too tough.

Carrigan Holbert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for West-Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Considering they have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On West-Oak's side, Abi Blackwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Blackwell has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West-Oak saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Blackwell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Blackwell has snagged this season. Brylee Whitfield was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

As of now, neither Palmetto nor West-Oak have any future games scheduled.
