Baseball Recap: St. Paul's Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hammond last Saturday, St. Paul came back down to earth. St. Paul's fell 4-1 to the Ponchatoula Green Wave on Tuesday. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Green Wave apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

St. Paul's got a good showing from Andrew Iannusa, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Iannusa a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, St. Paul's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Bouterie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

St. Paul's has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. Ponchatoula has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

While St. Paul's had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
