With a playoff win on the line, Ganado rose to the challenge on Thursday. They didn't even let the Refugio Bobcats on the board, marking their second-straight 16-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won 18 matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Saylor Bures looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kalyn Benavides was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Laci Holt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Ganado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Refugio only posted an OBP of .357.
The win (which was Ganado's 11th in a row) raised their record to 24-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Refugio, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.
As of now, neither Ganado nor the Bobcats have any future games scheduled.
