Softball Recap: Ottawa-Glandorf Takes a Loss

Ottawa-Glandorf had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it nine. They lost 9-0 to the Shawnee Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Ottawa-Glandorf saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caily Bockrath, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Shawnee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Shawnee's side, Riley Rhodes made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Rhodes has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Menke, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Addie Melson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ottawa-Glandorf will head out to challenge Arlington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.47 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Shawnee, they are taking a road trip to take on Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
