Baseball Recap: Sioux City West Takes a Loss

Sioux City West dropped their record down to 7-16 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Jefferson Yellowjackets by a score of 4-2. Wolverines fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Yellowjackets since on Thursday.

As for Jefferson, they moved to 11-27 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Sioux City West since June 8, 2023.

For Jefferson's part, Andrew Peacock got the start for Jefferson and what a start it was: he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, Peacock posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in June of 2024. Aiden Moore came in to relieve Peacock and was airtight, giving up no runs, hits or walks in his two innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Nate Anderson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kendall Bell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Sioux City West is taking a road trip to square off against Sioux Center at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Wolverines' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Jefferson, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Denison-Schleswig at 7:30 p.m.
