Baseball Recap: Champaign Central Takes a Loss

After soaring to 15 runs the game before, Champaign Central was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of the Effingham Hearts by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Maroons of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2023.

Champaign Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season. As for Effingham, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Champaign Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 26-2 victory against Peoria on the 23rd. As for Effingham, they have also already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Mattoon on the 22nd.
