Football Game Preview: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes

The Umatilla Bulldogs will head out to take on the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Umatilla knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Lake Weir likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Umatilla strolled past Crystal River with points to spare, taking the game 35-20. The 35-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Umatilla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryce Norflee, who picked up 141 receiving yards and two scores. Norflee showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Ray Jenkins, who threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Lake Weir was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 12-6 to Pine Ridge. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Weir's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Umatilla, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Umatilla strolled past Lake Weir in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 48-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
