Softball Game Preview: South Pasadena Tigers vs. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals

The South Pasadena Tigers will square off against the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Pasadena is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Archer School for Girls 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Natalie Kan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jolene Wu was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Talula Bearden, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Lions.

South Pasadena pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
