Basketball Recap: David Crockett Comes Up Short

David Crockett has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Unicoi County Blue Devils. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 71-61.

Jackson Simmons continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Unicoi County, going 6 for 15 en route to 16 points and three steals. The match was Simmons' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Cutlip, who posted ten points.

David Crockett's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Unicoi County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. David Crockett will venture away from home to challenge Elizabethton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Unicoi County, they are taking a road trip to take on Tennessee at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
